Atlantic Immigration Pilot
- By Access 2 Canada
The Atlantic Immigration Pilot (AIP) is a partnership between the Government of Canada and the Atlantic provinces (Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador) to attract skilled immigrants and their families to the Atlantic region of Canada. The program is designed to address labour market needs in the region and help support economic growth.
Three streams are included in the Atlantic Immigration Pilot:
- Atlantic High-Skilled Program (AHSP)
- Atlantic Intermediate-Skilled Program (AISP)
- Atlantic International Graduate Program (AIGP)
- Atlantic High-Skilled Program (AHSP):
- This stream targets individuals with job offers for high-skilled positions in one of the Atlantic provinces.
- Eligible occupations typically fall under National Occupational Classification (NOC) Skill Level 0, A, or B.
- Applicants must have at least one year of full-time, continuous work experience in their occupation within the last three years.
- They must also possess the required education, training, or certification for the job offer.
- Language proficiency requirements include meeting the minimum score on approved language tests in either English (IELTS, CELPIP) or French (TEF).
- Atlantic Intermediate- Skilled Program (AISP):
- This stream is aimed at individuals with job offers for intermediate-skilled positions in the Atlantic provinces.
- Eligible occupations typically fall under NOC Skill Level C.
- Applicants must have completed at least a high school education or equivalent.
- Like AHSP, candidates need to demonstrate at least one year of full-time, continuous work experience in their occupation within the last three years.
- Meeting the language proficiency requirements in English or French is mandatory.
- Atlantic International Graduate Program:
- This stream targets international graduates who have completed a post-secondary program from a recognized institution in one of the Atlantic provinces.
- Graduates must have obtained a degree, diploma, or certificate from a publicly funded institution in the Atlantic region and have lived in the province for at least 16 months within the last two years before graduation.
- Job offers must be related to the graduate’s field of study and come from an employer designated by the province.
- Language proficiency requirements apply, and graduates must meet the minimum scores on approved language tests.
For all streams:
- Candidates must have a valid job offer from an employer designated by the respective Atlantic province.
- Applicants are required to demonstrate their intention and ability to settle in the Atlantic province where the job offer is located.
- Endorsement by the provincial government is necessary for eligibility in the AIP.
- Meeting the settlement funds requirement may be necessary, depending on the province and individual circumstances.
It’s crucial for applicants to thoroughly review the specific eligibility criteria and requirements outlined by the respective provincial governments and Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to ensure compliance with the AIP guidelines.
